I think I must be the only blogger who finds Charlotte Tilbury products a little over rated. Yep, there I said it! Don’t get me wrong the rose gold packaging is a dream but whilst I do like some of the products I’ve tried, I’ve not been blown over by anything. Well that is until now. I treated myself to the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick as I did used to have the lip liner until I came hone drunk from a wedding once and the dog somehow chewed it up. That was actually one of the products I did like too so I was optimistic for the lipstick version.

It seems the lipstick is only available online at the moment and is priced at £24. As I said I really liked the Pillow Talk lip liner which is why I thought I’d try the lipstick! The lip liner seems to be very popular and well-loved so I’m surprised it’s taken so long for Charlotte to come up with this wonder product. This is the perfect ‘my lips but better shade’ as it’s a beautiful nude/pink shade but it’s also matte. I find some matte lipsticks can be quite drying but this seems to last a good few hours before I start to feel I need a lip balm. I do think I need to repurchase the lip liner now just to enhance the shape of my lips as they’re really thin! Lip fillers are definitely something I’m going to look at again once I’ve finished breastfeeding.

The lipstick is also enriched with soothing orchid and lipstick tree extracts which is probably why my lips don’t feel dry with this matte lipstick. The packaging is the traditional rose gold casing with the maroon boxes which shouldn’t work but so does. This lipstick has been released just in time for Valentines Day along with the Valentine lipstick in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G collection but it’s a little too light for my skin tone, Pillow Talk is much more suited for me. At the moment both lipsticks are only limited edition so I’d order quickly if either colour tickles your fancy.

Do you like the look of Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk?

Seeing as I’m still waiting for Baby Heapy to make an appearance, I’ve been having some ‘me’ time by pampering myself. I thought Tangle Teezer only sold the detangling brushes so I was really excited to see they now stock blow drying brushes as well as other products such as finishing brushes. I have a split fringe cut in at the minute so I needed something exactly like this brush to help position it in the right place.

I opted for the large round finishing brush* as this is recommended for medium/long hair but my hair is quite thick too. If you have shorter, fine hair then the small round brush would be big enough. As I said this is perfect for styling my fringe but also for  getting that big hair look whilst blow drying. Thanks to the brush teeth technology, the round brush picks up hair at the root for great lift which is exactly what I need as my hair is quite flat on top. I also have a weird crown but since using this brush, I can lift the hair over my crown so I don’t have that strange patch at the back of my head.

The teeth of the brush also help to dry the hair quicker as they remove excess water. Again this is a great feature for me as I have a lot of hair so it does take a while for my hair to fully dry. Although, I still need to straighten/curl my hair after drying with the brush as my hair is naturally wavy, styling time has cut down dramatically. The brush also reduces frizz thanks to the teeth which is something I really struggle with again thanks to my thick hair. The brushes are a little more expensive than others you could get but the teeth of the brush are so different to anything I’ve tried, you really can tell the difference in quality. This will last years too! Just be careful not to drop it on your head as it is pretty heavy (I’m honestly not talking from experience…)

I also asked for a new hairdryer for Christmas and my in-laws very kindly bought me the Trevor Sorbie Blow Dry kit which is perfect to use with my new Tangle Teezer brush. The hairdryer has 2 speed and 3 temperature settings so is really flexible and also has an Ionic generator to again help with the frizz! Now I just need to persuade the husband to buy me some Rose Gold GHD straighteners for my birthday and I’m all set with my new hair equipment!

What are your blow drying tips?

You can never have too many beauty tools in my opinion including tweezers and eyelash curlers especially when they’re as beautiful as the products in the Tweezerman Collection A/W 2016*. I love the design of the new products from this Tweezerman collection as they’re rose gold or sparkly! I’ve said this a thousand times on my blog but you can’t beat the quality of Tweezerman products, especially their tweezers. They are well worth the investment as they last years!

Tweezerman Alluring Eyes Set
This set is the most simplest of designs but I love the simplicity of the gun-metal items. The faux leather case is ideal for keeping all those little essentials in which I end up misplacing such as the tweezers, eyelash curlers and also cotton buds, kirby grips etc. As well as the case, the set also includes a pair of their amazing ProMaster eyelash curlers. Eyelash curlers are great for me as my eyes are quite hooded and these help really open my eyes. The last item in this set are a pair of the Tweezerman slant tweezers which as I said will last for years thanks to the stainless steel design.

Tweezerman Rose Gold Slant Tweezers
As I said in my Gift Guide for Her, I’m a blogger cliché as in that I love anything rose gold! These tweezers are so gorgeous and are a staple in my makeup bag now. These are a great present for someone this Christmas or if you’re feeling flush, there’s a rose gold set that includes the tweezers, eyelash curlers and a cute pouch.

Tweezerman Merry and Bright Petite Tweezer Set
As much as I love rose gold, I also love anything glittery and festive looking! The set includes two pairs of tweezers, one slanted and one pointed. The slanted pair which are the white and gold colour are my favourites and are more suitable for every day plucking. The pointed pair, black and gold, are better for ingrown hairs or hard to pluck hairs so I don’t need these as much. They come in a gold foil pouch so you’ll always have them together and of course are great for travelling as they’re smaller than the standard Tweezerman tweezers.

Have you got your eye on anything from the Tweezerman A/W 2016 Collection?

Hi Sweets,

After receiving Charlotte Tilbury’s lip cheat in Pillow Talk for Christmas, I’ve been eyeing up my next purchase. I had some money left on a Selfridges voucher so I ventured in to find myself a birthday lippy. I was torn between a CT lipstick or buying my first Tom Ford one. However, the main line in the Tom Ford lipsticks were too expensive and the colours I wanted in the Lips & Boys collection were all sold out! So I decided I’d pick up my first Charlotte Tilbury lipstick.
I wouldn’t say there was a lot of choice in colours as I actually wanted a bright pink colour but there wasn’t one! However, I spotted Lost Cherry and thought it was a bold colour that would look great for my birthday night out! The lovely guy applied it for me and even though it was from the matte collection it still felt really moisturising and that’s something I always look for in a lipstick. The lip formula is enriched with lipstick tree extract which protects lips and orchid extract which soothes and hydrates.
Charlotte also says that the lipsticks contain 3D glowing pigments which makes the lips look wider and fuller. I definitely agree with this as my lips seem to look a little fuller which is always great with my horrible thin lips (sorry for the horrid swatch!) The colour stays on the lips for hours but the moisture does disappear within the hour and I found myself reapplying even though the colour was still there. The best thing about this range is the shape of the lipstick itself. It has a square, angled tip which makes application super easy and ensures the lips look fully defined. The colour looks different in the pan that it does on the lips. Looking at it I thought it was a red but on the lips it’s more of an orange/fuchsia red. The rose gold packaging completes this 10/10 product. I’m just hoping more colours come out in this range as they’re all pretty dark!

In conclusion from the two products I own from this marvellous lady, I love them both and I’m slowly getting addicted to her products!

Smooch Cosmetics

Hi Sweets,

I recently received a few products to try from Smooch Cosmetics. I’ve got to be honest and say I’d never heard of the brand before but I was really eager to see what they had to offer. They are currently in the process of a re launch so keep you’re eyes on them in the upcoming weeks. When the products first arrived I was really impressed with the matte black packaging and it reminded me of a high end companies packaging (Cough Nars!)
I love this eyeshadow palette in Gold Rush* and again it reminds me of the Nars duo eyeshadows particularly the shades Kalahari. The two shades are really pigmented and I use the right hand colour all over the lid and the left hand side for a brow highlight. The lasting power is also pretty good but they did start to fade later into the day. However, for the price you really can’t grumble at that (£8.50). The blushes, this one is Sweet Cheeks*, are also pretty pigmented and not all that easy to blend so just be careful when applying these that you don’t put too much on the brush. If you do, simply use your foundation/bronzer brush with the remaining product to blend the blush in especially with the darker colour.
My favourite products are the lipsticks especially Hot Lips* which is a deep orange toned colour. The other is the complete opposite in a Barbie pink colour and goes by the name Trolley Dolly*. They are really moisturising which is the most important factor to me in a lipstick and they’re also really long lasting. You can find out more about Smooch on their Twitter and Facebook.
