I must have mentioned so many times how I still need to post my nursery room tour but I just haven’t got round to it yet! Instead I thought I’d write about a few gifts we were sent for the nursery from Prezzybox. They have some gorgeous personalised and non personalised baby gifts for new arrivals or just if you want to treat your little one. I love the personalised books and also the art that would look lovely in any nursery.

I haven’t ever framed Johnny’s scan photos so I chose this adorable frame* with the quote ’20 Weeks – the size of a banana’. I used to take a photo of my bump every week with the piece of fruit/veg for the size of the baby. This can be personalised to whatever you want which is what I love about Prezzybox. The neutral white frame will look lovely in the nursery as we’ve kept it gender neutral for hopefully baby number 2! This can be hung on the wall or it just stands up on it’s own. It would be a lovely baby shower or welcoming gift for someone special.

I also chose this light box* for Johnny’s nursery. Although this isn’t a personalised gift, I think he’ll love it once he moves into his own room. The cube projects stars and soft sounds which is perfect for Johnny as he loves staring at lights. You can choose whether you wants lights, sound or both plus it has a 30 minute timer so it won’t wake the little one up once he’s nodded off. It’s very calming and is similar to white noise in that it makes me sleepy too! The stars don’t show up too bright on the ceiling so it isn’t too distracting for Johnny, just enough to send him off to sleep.

Have you spotted anything from the Prezzybox baby range?

Interiors on Pinterest are my obsession at the moment. We don’t have much spare money right now with starting maternity pay next month but I’m still trying to do what I can to the house. We’ve lived here for over 5 years now and we still have so much more to do.

Making a House a Home

Invest in Good Furniture

We bought our sofa and dining table from Next when we first bought our house. They were quite expensive but we thought it was a good idea to invest. In the long run it’s the best idea as we would probably have had to repurchase by now if we’d gone for cheaper products! However that being said I now want a grey couch instead of our brown one so if you’re going to swap your living room colours around regularly then this point doesn’t apply to you! If you really want to invest in furniture Skandium* sell some amazing pieces by many different brands including Carl Hansen and Son, Artek and Andersen. Our couch is still in great condition so I’d also recommend furniture from Next if you’re looking for quality but still quite affordable. You can really change a home with gorgeous, quality furniture.

Add Accessories

Of course to really personalise a home you can add gorgeous decorations such as photo frames and vases. This is definitely something I need to do more, we don’t even have any photos of Johnny up in the house yet which is super lazy of me as we got some great photos of him in a newborn shoot. We do have a wedding photo in our hall which looks gorgeous when you walk in the front door as I’m just obsessed with the frame. I also think pretty artwork really adds something as it’s personalised to you. For example we have a lot of Paris paintings in the house as it was our first holiday together when I came back from living in Italy and it just felt super special.

Decorate to your Style

Finally, to really make a house a home, decorate your house how you want to! Don’t let anyone tell you how to do it because at the end of the day it’s you that’ll be living in it. If you’re not into the grey and white Pinterest theme, go for some colour in your life! Since we decorated my style has changed so much I’m desperate to redecorate so I wouldn’t do anything you can’t revert back easily.

How did you make your house a home?

As a Nuby UK brand ambassador, Johnny and I are very lucky in that we get sent products. This month we received lots of exciting bath toys which I couldn’t wait to show Johnny. He loves baths as much as his Mummy and although he’s still really young, he’s very alert and takes notice of different colours so he still loved these.

Nuby Bath Time

I think most people had the numbers and letters* stuck to the side of their bath when they younger. I remember always trying to spell out my name or Mum and Dad so these are such a great way to learn. They also float in the water so Johnny likes watching them around him which is so cute to watch. My personal favourites are these kissing fish*. You pull them apart and they wiggle about in the water and come back together. JJ is too young to do it himself yet but he loves watching me do it for him.

If you never know if the bath is the right temperature for your little one then you definitely need the Nuby safe duck*. Simply leave it in the bath for a minute and if the water is too hot it will display HOT in white on the bottom. This saves so much worrying whether the water is going to be too warm and upset Johnny. It’s also a cute toy for him! We’ve just been using the splish splash stacking cups* to wash Johnny’s hair, he loves the water trickling on his head and it means the water doesn’t go in his eyes.  In a few months Johnny can play with these himself, stack them up and knock them down which he’ll love.

We also received the bath time net* which we haven’t used yet as it’s a bit old for him. This is a fun game for toddlers to help develop their motor skills and also distracts them whilst you wash their hair! Finally, we’ve been playing with this yellow submarine* that zooms through the water. These products from Nuby have helped Johnny enjoy his bath times even more and it’s one of my favourite things to do with him as he smiles so much.

Does your little one love bath time?

Although we’ve only just finished Johnny’s nursery (blog post to come!) I’ve seen some really cool and unique children’s bedroom pieces. We will eventually do our spare room up for Johnny’s big boy bedroom and leave the nursery as it is for (hopefully) baby Heapy number 2 in the future! I never thought I’d say that after labour but it is true, you do forget about the pain a few months later.

Children Bedroom Ideas

I’m definitely going to buy Johnny a teepee for his room when he’s old enough to have story time. I love this cute one from Wayfair, it’s actually a lot cheaper than I thought it’d be too. A similar concept is this mushroom house which would look so cool in a child’s room! I can just see him and his cousin sat in there listening to story time, my heart melts!

I don’t think Johnny will be ready for this white bed set for a while yet but I think it looks so smart! This would also save the need and space for a desk. I’d probably upgrade to this when he hits his teens and needs somewhere to study. For a completely unique piece, I love this Mr B piece* which can be folded and played with for a different look. I’m sure Johnny would feel extra safe with Bigfoot looking over him. I want Johnny to love his country and have his room show that so I’d be made up with this London bus bunk bed. It’d be great for when his friends or cousins stay over too. The thought of a London themed room is definitely high up on my list.

Johnny has the most beautiful rug in his room as I think rugs can really make an empty room look amazing. I know as he gets older he’s going to want something more fun and bright which is why I picked this dinosaur rug. I always leave my phone light on so I can see Johnny whilst he’s asleep in his Next2Me, just because I worry about blankets going over his face – I’m a typical Mum worrier! He’ll probably always need a night light if he’s anything like his Mummy was as a child. This would also look really cute in his nursery now, I’m not sure I can wait to order it for his room when he’s older. I stuck to gender neutral colours for his nursery as we didn’t know what we were having but I think we’ll go for some colour for his big boy room! I’m already excited to start planning it.

Have you seen any cool ideas for a child’s bedroom?

Each time I’ve been to the US, I’ve been sure to stock up on Milani products. I was so happy to discover Just My Look now sell the full range, including my favourite blushers ever! Just My Look are a British online shop and aim to sell popular brands at reasonable prices. They have just released the Milani range which makes me so happy as they’re a very affordable and popular brand. They also sell brands such as Real Techniques, Sleek and theBalm.

I was asked whether I’d like to try a few products from Milani and of course I said yes! As I said, I’ve only managed to get a few bits from this brand when I’ve been in America. I bought their blush in Tea Rose and I use it every day now so I wanted to try a different shade. I love the beautiful flower design of the blushes but they also just apply so easily and flawlessly. I’m normally in a rush doing my makeup so I don’t even need to look whilst applying this now. I chose shade Coral Cove* as it’s brighter than my previous one. Again it applies lovely and is perfect for Summer as it’ll look glowing on tanned skin.

I was looking forward to trying a few different products from Milani too. I needed a new black eyeliner so I went for their Stay Put eyeliner*. This is the most creamiest formula I’ve come across, it glides across the eye. I really like the gold ended pencil design too! The eyeliner is waterproof and is great for blending thanks to the creamy gel design but quickly sets to stop any transfer.

I’ve also got Mum bags going on right now so I opted for a concealer. I really like these concealers that have the applicator sponge attached. The Retouch and Erase light lifting concealer* instantly hides my circles and left me looking more awake. I’m also loving this as it doesn’t appear cakey or rest on  lines which is a problem I’ve found with similar priced concealers. I can’t wait to try more products from Milani – I’ve got my eye on their lip scrub and treatment. I’m so grateful I don’t have to wait until my next visit to the US to pick up some more of their products!

Have you tried any products from Milani?
