Lifestyle| Planning a Christening with Bidvine

I’m so excited that we’ve booked Johnny’s christening for June! We actually booked it when he was 2 weeks old because the church closest to us books up super early and when we went in January the next available date was June so it’s a good job really. I’m now in full planning mode and I can’t wait to get started.

Venues
The first thing we had to do as I said was book the church. Neither Ryan or I are church goers but by getting Johnny christened I feel he’s being welcomed into the world. It’s also a chance for our family and friends to come together to celebrate our little boy. It’s taken a while to choose somewhere for the after party as places have either been too far away, too expensive or wouldn’t let us provide our own food. We’ve finally decided on a small rugby club room that is free of charge and just a walk away from the church. It’s a pretty plain room which brings me into my next point….

Decorations and Cake
I’m not going to go over the top with decorations but I’d love some confetti balloons and some bunting. I’ve already asked the person that made our wedding cake to make the christening cake too. I’ve found a few ideas and pinned them all on my Pinterest page.

Event Photographer
I love taking photos ever since starting my blog but I just want to be able to relax and enjoy our special day so I’ve been looking on Bidvine to help find the perfect photographer. Bidvine* is a great site for finding local services to you, you just need to enter what you’re looking for and your postcode. You can also put in your budget if you answer questions such as the type of venue, how many hours and how many guests. This means you’ll get exactly what you want for the price you want. The quotes can be sent via email or text which is great for me as I hate speaking on the phone! Other popular searches include cleaners, painters or for me at the moment personal trainers! I was so impressed with how easy the site was to use, you can find the perfect  service in 3 easy steps.

Food and Entertainment
We’ve decided to order food in for the christening. Everyone craves carbs after a few drinks so we’re going to order Pizza Hut and pasties, A traditional northern christening! We’re also thinking of doing a sweet table for the children (and probably most of the adults!) Ryan also wants to hire a magician to keep the young ones entertained so parents can enjoy their day which again I’ll be finding through Bidvine. You really can find so many services on their site.

Invites
Invite wise, I’m going to make my own just to save a few pennies! Again, I’ve pinned a few ideas to my Christening board and I particularly like the bunny ones. I’ll probably design them myself and use a site like Printed.com to get them professional printed.

Have you got any tips for planning a Christening?

Wow such a long wait, but totally worth it! We loved Henry’s Christening so much! And such a good idea to get a photographer through Bidvine!

I never quite realised the amount of organising that goes into a chistening. It sounds like it’s going to be lots of fun to plan and prepare though. Bidvine sounds like it will make finding a photographer much easier too. 🙂

  • Will be using this list if and when we have a christening with Amela xx
